Very nice. I'd love to know a bit about your tech specs (lens, f-stop, shutter speed, filters, etc.) if you care to share.

Let's see. The lens I used was the stock lens from my Canon XSi.
f-16
6 or 8 seconds
ND4 filter
Manfrotto tripod
cable release

I think that about covers it.

Nice shot, sir! Have you hiked to nearby Diamond Creek Falls? It's not as tall, but I think it is even cooler. :)

Thanks, Greg! Yeah, I made it to Diamond Creek. It is a much easier fall to break down. I've got a few shots from there that I'm preparing. I even hiked all the way to Fall Creek Falls up there. That one is just so-so.

Glad to hear that you made it to Diamond Creek Falls. That one is very, very cool. I agree that Fall Creek Falls is a bit blah.

Beautiful, as always. Curious, are most of these falls you capture close to you? Or are they scattered all over? I know you've mentioned the waterfall highway, but as for the rest of them?

That focal cascade is absolutely beautiful. I love the split in it, and the exposure is perfect.

Most of the falls that are on my page are all within an hour of me. The Highway of Waterfalls is about an hour & a half to two hours away. Columbia River Gorge is about two hours away. I've only scratched the surface up there. Everywhere in Oregon for that matter. I'll be done in my county by the time spring hits. More branching out after that. There are like 800 falls in Oregon alone so, yeah, they are scattered all over the place.

Thanks for the kind comments, Ken! :)

I'm hoping we can make our way out there for next spring, not this one. I hope you can get at least a week to take me around. :) I will probably never want to leave though, it's so gorgeous.

Just keep me updated about your plans. I'm not sure if I could get any time off from work. I could definitely get out with you a couple of times. Point you in some nice directions too.

yeah, I didn't think a week would happen. :( We're taking off in a few days actually. Spending this winter in S. Carolina, so I have to hunt falls out there, if there are any. I don't even know. Along the way, stopping at a few other areas that may have some. Checking into it now, and trying to plan the route in the most scenic, photographic way possible. :)

 Well done! The water looks fantastic.
I hiked to this waterfall when I was down there, but didn't get any shots of it because I couldn't find the viewpoint. :(
And then it started snowing.
And getting dark.

Thank you, Paula! I would have really enjoyed checking out some snow covered shots of this fall taken by you. Haven't been there in the winter yet, myself.

The Earth will eventually reveal itself if you keep walking up the man-made walkways. Follow the fence around to the trail leading below the lip of the fall. That's where the really nice spots are. I shot this below the lowest viewpoint.

Apparently, I took the trail on the wrong side of the river so there was no viewpoint to be had except for a few glimpses through trees. But I wasn't on the wrong trail all by myself...a couple was also looking for the falls and we all walked the wrong way together.

I did, however, get Yakso Falls with some snow [link]

The funny thing was this was in MAY that it was snowing! :faint:

You need to stay on the side you parked on. Keep walking up the steps leading downstream. You'll get there.

That trail you were on leads to Diamond Creek Falls. It's 1 1/2 miles down that trail. Some nice viewpoints on that trail as well. Diamond Creek is definitely worth the hike. I got quite a few scapes from there ready to hit my page. The Vivian Lake Trail is there too. It leads to Fall Creek Falls. The trail gets pretty steep before you get to the fall. That fall is not worth the hike if you are just looking to take photos. There is a tree there that blocks the full fall shot. I hiked down the crazy slope to get the full view for myself but had no room to set up in such a precarious place. I pretty much get to some of these places simply to mark them off the list. I marked that one off on Friday. Covered eight miles or so. :)

You know, you don't have to send me links to your photos. I remember that Yakso shot of yours. It's in my :+fav:'s. I did view it again just because you sent it though. :D

I'll be getting to Yakso again to catch it at better flow in late May-Early June when Doug gets back out here.

Hmmm....I am wondering if I am confusing this with another waterfall. Okay, I just looked it up and I think I was thinking this was Lemolo Falls. And that one has a trail on both sides and I was on the wrong side. Ugh!

Sorry about the link...I just try to make it easier for people...I hate it when someone tells me to look at a particular picture with no link given 'cause then I have to hunt!

Doug is coming back? Does your wife know?

Haven't made it to Lemelo yet. It's on the agenda. Probably in the spring sometime.

Oops, I think I made you hunt for a photo. Sorry about that. I'll send you links when I want you to check something out. You just don't have to send me links to your stuff if it's on your page. I know most of your shots. Plus, if I don't I just give you another page view. :D

Your funny....real funny. :|

Doug will be back for another three weeks of shooting the local sites. I got him to about fifty falls last year. Here we go again!! :faint:
